Can I expect 'first generation' DVD players to play recordable DVD discs produced from your
DVD+RW drives?
Discs burned in a DVD+RW drive are playable in 99% of all DVD players and DVD-ROM drives currently on the
market. If you'd like, send us the brand and model number of your player and we
will be glad to check it out for you.
What is life span of a DVD+RW disc?
An average of 100+ years at this time.
Do you produce DVD's or do you first make a video and then transfer it to DVD format?
We produce videos in a digital environment on professional video equipment, later we transfer to DVD format. Please note that our picture resolution is highly professional.
If I have my photos transferred to DVD, can you make copies of the DVD on to VHS?
If you would like to get a VHS copy as well, please include $10 if it's up to 60 minutes or
$15 if the VHS copy is from 61' to 120'.
Why should I get my event saved on DVD?
Our clients have told us that having a DVD video made was one of their best decisions. A wedding DVD lets you relive the wedding day and all the emotions that go with it and will allow your children and their children and their children to share in your day. There will be many moments captured that you don't remember or didn't even see at all during the whirlwind of events that make up your wedding day.
Wouldn't you love to have a DVD of your parents' wedding? Your grandparents'? A professional wedding video DVD is a keepsake that not only you will cherish, but it will be prized by future generations as well. This applies to other personal events as well.
What size photos can I use?
We can use any standard-size photograph (3½x5, 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, etc.). Additional media, such as newspaper clippings, scrapbook pages, greeting cards, etc. can be used.
We can use all size photos from keepsakes to 16 x 20's. Please note that close-up shots in vertical format
(also known as portrait) do not allow to zoom-in enough to keep the TV format
and will appear a bit smaller on the screen. TV format pictures (horizontal, also known as landscape) are the best options. Vertical format works fine if it is not a close-up.
How long would each photo be on screen?
They are just shown for about 7 seconds. This can be increased at
your request but limits the number of photos on one disk.
Do you recommend having chapter points, my DVD player already can advance automatically?
For most videos that are up to 30 minutes; I don't think that chapter points are that important. For a two hour video where there are many different sections and titles I would definitely recommend the option with chapter points. It is so convenient to go to the menu and just click on a particular title! That's one of the great advantages of DVDs over videos!
Can you convert black and white photos to video, or just color photos?
We can use black&white, sepia and color photographs, slides and documents like diplomas, certificates, invitations and so on. Regarding sizes anything from wallet size to 16x20's.
How do I organize the photos in sections?
We will put the photos on video exactly as you request, so if you organize them into different sections, with different titles for each section, that's what we'll do.
Simply separate them accordingly with instructions on a sticky note for each
group. (Titling, chapters, etc..)
Can I choose my own title and topic for my
tape?
You can provide any titles you want. As mentioned above, just indicate what you
would like after grouping your photos.
Can you do scrolling titles?
Yes, since your titles can be up to 150 characters (including spaces); many times we have to do scrolling of the titles.
Can I request specific editing effects?
We will always try to accommodate you if we can! Our editing
equipment has many effects to choose from.
Can the section title be on screen just before each section begins, rather than super-imposed on top of the photo?
Main titles go on the screen before the photos unless you request to have it on the photo.
We can also place small captions usually at the foot of the photo for giving
specific information about a particular photo like place, name, date,
etc.)
Do you recommend having titles in all photos?
By no means we recommend to have titles for all photos, first it is not very good for the rhythm flow and second, it would be very expensive!
What mode do you use for recording?
We only use SP mode.
ABOUT MUSIC:
What music formats do you accept?
CD's, cassettes and CD-R. PLEASE do NOT send MP3 format.
Can I choose my music for different sections of the tape?
Yes, you can send the music you feel will better match your own memories while watching those photos. We require that you sign the disclaimer and agreement on the Order Form.
Do you necessarily play songs all the way to the end?
With Straight transfers, yes. we would not edit the music in any way. It will be
played on the order it was recorded on the tape or disk.
With Custom edited productions we can fade in or out as to fit
the feel of the scene.
What is Computer generated Music?
With our software, we can produce custom audio tracks that are
royalty free so you would have no need to send any music or worry about
copy write issues.
If I choose to select my own music for the video, can I have it burned onto a CD or do I need to send the original CD?
You can have them burned to a CD in the order you would like them to appear on
the production. Same applies to taped music.
How many music selections can I use?
For CUSTOMIZED videos as many as you want.
For STANDARD transfers you are entitled to one CD or one cassette, unless you need more audio for the transfer [A two hour transfer (approx. 1000 photos or slides) will require 2 hours of music]
Can I incorporate a voice-over?
This option is available for customized videos only. Simply record your message on a cassette tape, and just count it like a music option.
We cannot match photos exactly to what the words are narrating. For this we would have to charge editing time by the hour. If you are interested in that option please send us an e-mail.
